Job Summary:
The Adaptive Sports Instructor is responsible for designing, implementing, and facilitating adaptive sports programs for individuals with disabilities. The role requires extensive knowledge of physical education practices, adaptive techniques, and a passion for promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities in sports. The Adaptive Sports Instructor will coordinate and conduct adaptive sports activities, ensuring participants have a positive and enjoyable experience while developing their physical abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement adaptive sports programs tailored to meet the needs and abilities of individuals with disabilities.
2. Plan and execute engaging adaptive sports sessions, including warm-up exercises, skill-building drills, and modified games.
3. Instruct participants on sports techniques, rules, and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
4. Assess individual abilities and adapt activities accordingly to promote skill development and progress.
5. Provide guidance and support to participants during adaptive sports sessions, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
6. Collaborate with other instructors, coaches, and support staff to develop and deliver comprehensive adaptive sports programs.
7. Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, progress, and any related incidents or accidents.
8. Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and caregivers regarding program details, scheduling, and individual progress.
9. Stay updated on the latest adaptive sports trends, techniques, and safety protocols through continuous learning and professional development.
10. Assist in organizing and coordinating adaptive sports events, tournaments, and competitions.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience working as a Physical Education Instructor or Adaptive Sports Instructor.
3. In-depth knowledge of adaptive sports techniques, modifications, and equipment.
4. Familiarity with a wide range of sports, including but not limited to basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming, and track and field.
5. Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively instruct and motivate individuals with disabilities.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster an inclusive environment for participants.
7. Demonstrated organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to plan and execute engaging sports sessions.
8. CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain them).
9. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate program schedules.
